Laguna Chocolate Chip Speckled Buff is a warm brown clay with rich brown speckles. Versatile and reliable, it’s suitable for both throwing and hand building, making it a great choice for potters of all levels.
The speckles add subtle texture while maintaining a smooth feel on the wheel. They remain visible even under semi-opaque glazes, adding depth and character to finished pieces.
Low in sand and grog content, speckled buff clay is relatively smooth in texture and makes for an excellent throwing body.
This clay does great in both oxidation and reduction, due to the speckled inclusions that provide dimension in both types of firing. In oxidation, Speckled Buff falls into the tan/brown colour range, and customers have noted that the speckles do often appear through semi-opaque glazes.
