Description
Liquid brush wax (commonly called wax resist) is a water-based emulsion used in pottery to prevent glaze, slip, or underglaze from sticking to specific areas of a clay piece, such as the bottom foot of a pot.
Tips for Application and Brush Care
- Application: Paint the liquid wax onto the bisque-fired or dry greenware foot ring to keep kiln shelves clean during firing.
- Brush Maintenance: Coat your brush bristles in a 50/50 mix of dish soap and olive oil before dipping into the wax so it washes out cleanly with water afterward.
- Removal: Do not try to wash dried wax off the clay body; the wax burns off cleanly during the kiln firing.
