WE CAN NO LONGER SOURCE POTTERS LATEX LOCALLY.  THE LAGUNA LATEX WILL ARRIVE EARLY 2024

Potters can use this product as a removable resist. Slip, trail or brush this directly onto your pottery or over a glaze. Once it dries you can peel it off and apply another layer of glaze or decoration. Apply and peel as many layers as you desire.

You may also use this product to make thin, flexible molds into which you may pour plaster, resins or other substances. Your models and finished pieces may have undercuts since your latex mold will stretch when being pulled away.

Note: Our Liquid Latex will be damaged if frozen. Therefore, we suggest caution if ordering for shipment to cold regions during the winter seasons.

Brush Care Tip
Before placing your brush into the liquid latex, dip it into liquid soap & then squeeze out excess soap. Now after the brush is used with latex, you will be able to wash the brush clean with soapy water.

Directions:

Plaster models: Immerse the model very slowly (to avoid air traps) into the liquid latex and suspend it there from 20 min to 3 hours depending on the thickness required. Remove coated model and allow to dry.

Other than Plaster Models: If necessary, seal the model with polyurethane varnish and allow to dry. Place item to be moulded on a tray or similar so that excess latex can be contained and returned to the bottle.

Paint latex onto the object one layer at a time allowing each coat to dry completely. Apply sufficient coats relative to the size of the object.

To Thicken Liquid Latex: For heavier moulds, the addition of standard wallpaper paste is suggested.

After applying several coats of unthickened latex, make up a quantity of wallpaper paste 3-4 times thicker than normal. By blending a small amount of this very thick paste with latex, very much higher viscosity latex is achieved which can then be applied to the model.

To ensure a strong mould: Allow to fully set and dry before use. The mould can be made stronger by heating in an oven slowly to 100°C for no more than 20 minutes. Allow to cool.

To Release Mould: Soap the outside of the mould (detergent + water) to act as a lubricant and peel the mould back over itself to release itself from the casting.

Hints:

Avoid air bubbles when brushing latex.

Wash brushes and equipment in warm soapy water.

Avoid contact with petroleum solvents.

Use in a well-ventilated area.

Keep contents airtight for storage.

Store in a cool place.

Ideally use within 60 days of purchase.
